An actor (or actress for female) is one who portrays a character in a performance. The actor performs "in the flesh" in the traditional medium of the theatre, and/or in modern mediums such as film, radio, and television. Some can just turn it off and on. Pretend to be defending the world from the forces of evil one minute, before chilling by craft services talking about the weather the next. Other actors are more method in their approach, needing to become the character.
